About Dr. Daniel Myran

Dr. Daniel Myran is a public health and preventive medicine physician, family doctor, and health services researcher at the University of Ottawa, where he holds a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Social Accountability. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, an investigator at the Bruyère Research Institute, and an Adjunct Scientist with ICES.

His research focuses on using natural experiments combined with linked health administrative data to understand the burden of substance use and mental health in Canada. Dr. Myran has published extensively on the impacts of cannabis legalization, including landmark studies in JAMA Psychiatry, the New England Journal of Medicine, and CMAJ. His work has examined topics ranging from cannabis-involved traffic injuries to edible cannabis legalization and unintentional pediatric poisoning.

Dr. Myran is also the Principal Investigator of the Canadian Cannabis and Health Dashboard, a public resource tracking the health impacts of cannabis across Canada. In clinical practice, he provides family medicine with a focus on addiction medicine.
