About Dr. Brodie Ramin

Dr. Brodie Ramin is a primary care and addiction medicine physician and Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He practices family medicine, HIV care, and addiction medicine at the Sandy Hill Community Health Centre in Ottawa.

Born in Ottawa, Dr. Ramin's academic journey took him around the world before returning to Canada — completing his undergraduate degree at McGill University, a Master's at Cambridge, medical school at the University of Toronto, and residency back in Ottawa. This global perspective shapes his approach to harm reduction and substance use treatment.

Dr. Ramin is also an accomplished author. His book The Age of Fentanyl: Ending the Opioid Epidemic (Dundurn Press) was shortlisted for the prestigious Donner Prize and provides a frontline perspective on the opioid crisis, covering harm reduction, cannabis, and evidence-based approaches to addiction treatment. He has published research on topics including infectious disease in immigrant populations and urban health.
